Roko Gillingham Starts Saving with EuroSite Power
CHP System Provides Immediate Benefits with Zero Capital Outlay for Health Club Chain
Monday April 8th 2013
WALTHAM, Mass. – April 8, 2013 – EuroSite Power Inc., (OTCQB: EUSP) an On-Site Utility, offering clean electricity, heat, hot water and cooling solutions to hospitality, healthcare, housing and leisure centers in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe, announced that it is now operating a combined heat and power (CHP) system supplying clean energy to Roko Health Club, GiIlingham, UK.
Gillingham is the second of four sites to go live from a contract with a total revenue value of approximately 6.6 million GBP over the term of the 15 year agreement announced in October 2012.
Serving the ‘premium affordable’ health club market, every Roko Health Club provides luxury facilities and programming to their customers at sector beating prices. The clubs have indoor pools with spas, saunas and steam rooms, spacious and well equipped fitness arenas, dedicated group exercise studios, luxury changing rooms and Costa Coffee club lounges.
Under a fifteen-year agreement, EuroSite Power is installing and operating CHP systems at Roko Health Clubs in Chiswick, Gillingham, Nottingham and Portsmouth. EuroSite Power produces clean energy in the form of electricity, heating and domestic hot water for each health club at a price lower than the clubs’ current and future energy suppliers.
Because Roko opted for EuroSite’s On-Site Utility solution, the clubs pay only for the energy used and avoid all capital, installation and operating costs. EuroSite Power also handles all service, maintenance and repair, meaning the clubs do not need to provide manpower to support the energy equipment. The four projects combined will produce approximately 6.6 GWh of total energy per annum, while saving up to 694 tonnes of CO2 each year.
Neil Stanton, Roko Health Clubs’ Operations Director, said: “The first system at Portsmouth started operating in February and we began to see the benefit within a few days. With Gillingham now operating and two more to come online, we anticipate a material reduction in both our annual energy bill and CO2 production, which is a fantastic result as there has been zero capital outlay for Roko Health Clubs.”
Paul Hamblyn, Managing Director of EuroSite Power said: “We are pleased to announce the CHP system provided to Roko Gillingham has been successfully commissioned. Leisure centres and health clubs remain an important part of our growth strategy, and we continue to pursue these and other large property holders to accelerate our growth within the UK market.”
